Mystery helicopter visit tied to Illinois canal study in Morris park
A helicopter landed briefly in W G Stratton State Park as two US officials toured the Illinois Michigan Canal route from Joliet to Morris. The flight, part of a 63 mile inspection by Ed Webb and John Camero ahead of a March 5 public meeting, aimed to review restoration plans and future development along the canal with volunteers and state staff.

Frank Peewee Matthews, a fugitive with a $20 000 federal reward, was indicted with 17 others on a nine count charge of conspiring to smuggle multi million quantities of heroin and cocaine. The unsealed indictment in Brooklyn followed 46 months of DEA led investigation.
Indictments Secretly Campaigned for Drug Ring Leader Matthews
U S Attorney in the Eastern District of New York announced secret indictments against Matthews known as Big Book and Mark IV Frank among other aliases. He was arrested in 1973 in Las Vegas on narcotics charges but posted 325000 bail and disappeared. The DEA offered a 20000 reward matching a federal high for information leading to his apprehension. The indictment charges conspiracy and illegal importation and sale of heroin and cocaine with packaging paraphernalia.
