Albert Vota reports 96 people attended a meeting at South Wilmington Fire Station about the new East Brooklyn bridge over the Mazon River. DOT officials say no temporary bridge due to $100,000 cost. South Wilmington will station one fire truck in East Brooklyn for summer and Essex Ambulance will provide service. Detours will reroute traffic about 5 miles. Bid letting June 3 with construction starting July 1 for four months, plus resurfacing Gardners road to East Brooklyn edge. Project total estimated at $759,000.

Dense fog triggers three accidents in Grundy County
Three accidents occurred in foggy conditions in Grundy County with no injuries. At 7:41 a.m. on South Broadway Road a 1966 Volkswagen suffered major damage totaling about $800 after a stalled engine and attempted push off the road. A 1977 Ford also sustained front damage and was towed. A second crash happened at 7:05 a.m. at Campus and Scully Roads involving a 31 year old man from Chatsworth and a 17 year old from Gardner.
