Morris Regional Chamber of Commerce to elect five directors
Ballots mailed to members list ten nominees from which five will be chosen for three year terms starting April 1. The nominating committee led by John W Hynds approved the slate including Donald Barkley Clark Fisher Jeanne Fox James Garling Donald Jennings Eugene McArdle Arthur Narvick Arthur Rostron Fred Schaefer and Robert Wren. Ballots due by 5 p.m. February 28 and an organizational meeting will elect 1969 70 officers afterward. Four directors retire in April. Kenneth Sereno continues as past president.

Sixty Absent Ballots Cast For Primary Next Tuesday
City clerk reports sixty absent ballots received for the Feb 25 primary with eight more applications filed. Ward breakdown shows four ballots returned from ward one, thirty nine applications with thirty four returned in ward two, fifteen applications with fourteen returned in ward three, and ten applications with eight returned in ward four. Thursday is the mail ballot deadline and Saturday noon is the in person deadline at the city clerk's office. Voters need not be registered to vote in the city primary. State law requires one year state residency, ninety days in the county, and thirty days in the ward.
Fear Wreckage Fumes Kill 10 in Nebraska Town
A leaking railroad tank car released anhydrous ammonia fumes in Crete Nebraska injuring many and causing six to ten deaths. State Patrol confirmed six deaths while a Department of Agriculture inspector reported ten dead as residents were awakened and affected by the toxic cloud. The car remained on a siding.

Small Rise in Personal Income Reported by Commerce
