The Red Cross bloodmobile will visit Morris on Tuesday February 28 from 11 30 a m to 5 30 p m for the first time since October A minimum of 100 pints is needed and blood is desperately needed due to winter demand It will be at the First Presbyterian Church in Morris.

State Police FBI agents and Bureau County deputies raided a Dalzell residence near Princeton and seized gambling equipment valued around 10 000. Albert C. Fusinatto 30 faced a possession charge and bond set at 3000. In Peru six slot machines and 25 000 to 30 000 in pull tabs and punch boards were seized from Automatic Service Co. Albert Franken 62 was arrested on gambling equipment charges.

Chrysler plans 5,800 layoffs across three Detroit area plants while Ford cuts 2,000 jobs. GM has no release yet. Chrysler cites March schedules 117,500 cars, 33,000 fewer than last March. Ford projects 24 percent drop in March output, February totals 155,000 cars and 44,000 trucks about 19 percent below last year. Ford notes February–March assemblies align with weaker U.S. auto demand.
Paul Hall of the AFL-CIO Maritime Trades Department criticized Walter Reuther amid a wider dispute over foreign policy. Hall accused the Labor Department of abusing the Landrum-Griffin Act to pressure unions and said Congress may probe the issue. Reuther had resigned as AFL-CIO vice president, urging more global labor solidarity.
Voters in Will and Grundy Counties and part of Kendall County will decide on a Class I junior college district in a 12 hour election with 82 polling places 28 in nearby high school districts. Referendum asks 72 cent education tax and 2 cent maintenance rate requiring majority in three areas.
Five men and three Fulton County officers face conspiracy and theft charges over alleged fraudulent grain loads. Indictments name Fulton County Grain Terminal Co Tri City Grain Terminal Co and Oscar Grain Co all of Fiatt and seven individuals. Authorities say trucks carried water tanks displacing 150 bushels of soybeans worth about 400 dollars. Indictments follow the Jan 3 arrest of Schaffnit at the Swift Co Soybean Mill in Champaign.
Delbert Moore of Perry Iowa survived a second Interstate 80 pileup in dense fog near Ottawa Illinois. He fractured both feet, sprained a hand, and sustained cuts after his semitrailer was crushed. two other drivers died. He may quit driving.
Washington AP The CIA used NSA students abroad to gather sensitive information and warned officers of jail if they disclosed the link. NSA leaders say the CIA subsidized overseas programs for 15 years using covers of foundations and individuals. Brown says most involved were presidents and international vice presidents, with oath penalties up to 20 years. The NSA suspended overseas representatives and ended CIA ties.
Firefighters from Morris respond at 11 15 p m Friday to a blaze north of the Claude Heap farm one mile east of Morris Airport on land owned by Edward Zeman. No occupants were present and details were not available at press time.
