Cannon a 33 year old electronics engineer from Panama City Fla died of a heart attack while diving at 610 feet to inspect air leaks in the Sealab 3 habitat off San Clemente Island Long Beach Calif Navy said the other three divers are safe and the test will continue. Cannon survived by his wife Mary and three sons Patrick Kevin and Neal.

A three car pileup on Interstate 65 south of Louisville killed Jay Davidow aged 22 of Lincolnwood Illinois and Marilyn Shulman aged 21 of Chicago. An Indianapolis woman and her 2 year old daughter also died in the crash.

Former Morris Residents Die in Joliet Car Crash
Two former Morris residents John C. Littleford 61 and Mable M. Littleford 53 died in a Joliet crash at Jefferson Street and Essex Road. A third person also died. John Selnik 23 of Northlake drove a Camaro that collided with the Littlefords station wagon. Police say Selnik had prior Rockdale traffic trouble and fled another crash. Littleford worked 23 years at Amoco Chemical in Chenango. Burial set in Oklahoma.
