Morris City Awards Water Main Extension Contract
The Morris City Council awarded the contract for a 2,040 foot 19 inch water main extension on Division Street to The James E. McElvain Construction Co. for $32,150.99 with $20 per yard rock removal and a 60 day completion period. Other bids ranged from $33,320.93 to $37,314 plus rock. The project replaces a troublesome six inch line, addresses acid soil corrosion, and includes encasing the new main in polyethylene tubes with crushed rock around it.

Student Darts Into Path of Oncoming Car
A 14 year old eighth grader from Center School was hit by a Morris City Police squad car at 3 58 pm Monday after darting into southbound traffic near Chapin and Division streets. He suffered only bruises and was released from Morris Hospital. Officer William Button said a white coat frightened the youth as he approached the moving car.
