Stolen liquor haul found in Missouri firm's stable
FBI agents uncovered three truckloads of liquor stolen from a Missouri trucking firm stored in a stable on Townline Road south of Illinois 187. In total 886 cases of assorted liquors were recovered during the search. A later report notes a power blackout in several towns caused by a downed wire on a 34 000 volt line near Grand Ridge, with service restored by 1 19 p m.

Robert Murrah of Champaign reported damage to his 1971 Ford Galaxie after hitting a chuckhole three feet long and four to six inches deep on Division Street near the old Norman gas station. The hole tore a ball joint. the car was towed. State highway crew was dispatched to repair the hole.
