Special election Tuesday for Congressional vacancy in 15th District
Voters will nominate a Republican and a Democrat for the April 4 special election to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mrs. Charlotte Reid. The winner will serve until January 1973 and then a full term in the new 15th District. Republican candidates include John A. Cunningham Clifford D. Carlson and William C. McConkey with Democratic contenders Dale R. Moore Tim L. Hall and Eugene H. Balmes. Cunningham, 33, of Aurora, is a city official and longtime Republican, Carlson, 55, of Geneva, leads Carlson Tool and Machine Co. and supports Nixon, while McConkey, 29, teaches political science at Aurora College and cites anti-tax aims. Moore, 30, of Sandwich owns Pied Piper Publications.

Three Injured in Three-Car Crash North of Saratoga Cemetery
A three-vehicle accident on Illinois 47 near Saratoga Cemetery injured three people. Tilman and Ruth Hauge both 50 and Mervin Hausken 24 were treated at Morris Hospital. Hausken’s and Hauge’s cars were demolished. Clyde Hoffman’s Opel suffered front damage. Police reported icy roads and injuries included head lacerations and bruised ribs.

Beagle Finds Alligator on First Hunt in Tulsa
Four month old beagle Sugarfoot discovered an alligator during a Sunday outing near Tulsa. Companions Kenneth Benton and Steve Sawmill shot and killed the 200 pound reptile, believed to have escaped from Nature's Acre. Owner Hugh Davis said the gator had been missing since August and estimated its age at 20 to 30.

Moose Lodge burglary arrests in Grundy County
Two men held on burglary charges after a Moose Lodge break in Illinois 47 south of Morris were among four cases routed to the Grundy County Grand Jury. Robert D. Roberts and Anthony R. Gemmato, both 24 and 28 from Chicago Heights, are in the county jail with deputies recovering tools and a crow bar from the scene.
