In the Herald notice a misstate claimed Ray Baker resided in the fourth ward. It clarifies he has lived in the third ward since 1945.

Weather forecast and temperatures from Collins Weather Station

The forecast calls for a fair night with continued cold and a low around 15 to 20. Friday brings partly cloudy skies and a dip around the low 30s. Saturday remains cloudy with little change. Collins Weather Station logged a high of 26 and a low of 10 for Wednesday. At 9 am today the station showed 20 degrees and downtown Morris 22 degrees at 10:30 am.

Offer Teacher Contract Not Accepted By Sit-In Leaders

University of Chicago administration offered Mrs. Marlene Dixon a one year contract extension in a compromise move. She rejected it as student sit-in leaders held the Admin Building for two weeks. Leaders voted on leaving plans, both defeated, as talks continued.

Morris High Board Backs $218,000 Library Bond

At its regular meeting the Morris Community High School Board of Education unanimously endorsed a proposed $218,000 bond for a new library building. Superintendent Claude Rose praised the plans and noted high school students would benefit most. The action followed a resident group pushing the Feb 25 city election bond vote.

Worker Killed at Lake Forest Construction Site

Frank Moniz age 33 of North Chicago died in a cave-in at a Lake Forest subdivision site. Thomas McNeal 30 of Chicago escaped as earth gave way in a 15 foot trench where both men worked for Kennedy Development Co. of Deerfield.

Morris Library bond approved by Morris elementary board

The Morris elementary board of education voted 5 to 0 on February 25 to support the Morris Public Library bond issue. President John Hendrickson introduced the matter at the start of the meeting.

Morris High Board Drops Ring Sales Plan

Morris Community High School Board votes to end selling class rings as local jewelers expand offerings. Supt Claude Rose reports four area high schools favor a shared area vocational center with Morris contributing about 250000 toward its share of costs, while Braidwood District already shows interest in joining Will County project. The district also approves merging junior senior prom and banquet to cut costs and plans a remedial reading lab after a state review.

In Morris four candidates seek the fourth ward alderman seat in the February 25 primary. Incumbent Floyd Siron seeks a mayoral bid.
