County Sales Tax Rise Reported by Illinois Department

Ex Klansman Tells of Plot to Assassinate Johnson

Wagner a 19 year old former Klansman from Ohio testified before the House Committee on Un American Activities about plans to assassinate President Johnson and Martin Luther King Jr and to blow up the White House. He described obtaining dynamite and weapons and met with Eloise Witte who claimed to be grand empress of the Ohio Klan to discuss sniper training and civil war aims. He also cited a 1964 murder tied to two Klansmen and noted a card taunting that crime.

Air Force Colonel Killed by Shot at Scott Base
Air Force Col. Donald P. Simpson deputy director of air traffic for the Military Airlift Command was found fatally shot at Scott Air Force Base. A 25 year veteran born in Christoval Texas he died after being taken to the base hospital. Simpson had served seven months at Scott after previous duty as air attache to Tehran Iran and had more than 8000 flying hours.
