After 11 years the local Sweet Adeline chapter dissolves and donates 1,050 in surplus funds to Morris Community High School Music Department and Morris volunteer firemen. The group began in 1961 with Mrs. Gerald White linking friends in music and joined the international chapter in 1962.

Skylab 3 Crew returns after 84 day spaceflight
The Skylab 3 astronauts Gerald Carr Edward Gibson and William Pogue landed in the Pacific after an 84 day 34.5 million mile mission. They reported good condition and checked health as recovery helicopters hovered.
