Township caucuses across Grundy County nominated eight of ten supervisors for four year terms in the April 4 town election. Incumbents Maurice Ballard and Sidney Carr won in close races, while Republican Ray Hutchings and others were chosen for highway commissioner posts. A Morris man Raymond F. Welch, 23, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was fined 200 dollars for striking Morris City Officer Gordon Gregg at the police station after an April 2 incident. Welch testified he acted in defense during a confrontation while claims of arrest were disputed.
