James Jesse a 32 year old Mesquite Texas driver was crushed between two heavy trucks on a steep incline while replacing a tow chain near the Cass Street bridge in Joliet. Donald Loveland 30 of Eufala Oklahoma reported his truck slid backward as Jesse tried to hook the chain. They were en route from Crane Indiana to Bremerton Washington with loads of explosives.

The federal government will grant 1.3 million dollars to 22 localities in 16 states to acquire 2,200 acres of parkland and urban spaces. Grants range from 280 thousand to 5.626 thousand. acquisitions include a 2.2 acre historic site and a 1,600 acre regional park.
