In PLATTVILLE voters approved a 925000 bond for a new Yorkville Consolidated Grade School District 15 building. Precinct results totaled 571 yes and 259 no with 3 spoiled ballots. The 30 acre site bought in 1964 will host a 26 classroom two wing facility for K through eighth grade. Tax rate will rise 30 cents per 100 of assessed valuation, about 30 dollars yearly on a 10000 assessment.

Jury Considers Leadingham Case Today
A 20 member Grundy County Grand Jury was asked to indict Arthur Leadingham 31 Gardner for involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to a child in the death of his 8 year old son Lonnie on Jan 12 at St Joseph Joliet. The coroner's jury said brain hemorrhage likely from blows. Indictment could carry one to ten years in prison.

Train Crashes, Mother and Son Escape at Hoge St Crossing
A mother, 20, and her 12 year old son Darrell fled a freight train collision on Hoge Street as their 1967 Pontiac became wedged between rails. Slippery roads and snow blocked escape after the car stalled on the crossing. the train struck the vehicle and caused extensive damage without injuries.
