The Illinois Supreme Court reduced Veronica Crews's death sentence to 20 to 35 years for killing her two year old foster daughter Lisa. Couple Held After Help Note Found Near Dwight Restroom
A St. Louis man and a Chicago woman were taken into questioning after a note asking for police contact was found in a restroom at a Coffeehouse on U S 66 near Dwight Illinois. Thelma Jones 20 of Chicago and Samuel Talkton 35 of St. Louis were stopped on U S 66 and held at state police headquarters while federal agents arrive. A 1968 navy blue Cadillac was linked to the case and the gunman was described as armed with a sawed off shotgun. No charges filed yet.
