Metallurgist testifies on welding in Norris Yonker case
Broadview metallurgist Norris Yonker testified in Grundy County Circuit Court that the fertilizer applicator platform involved in Donald Francois's July 2 1973 fall showed extensive weld splatter and signs of a bad weld. He explained improper setup could cause gas pockets and poor weld contour, contributing to the accident cited in the December 1974 suit against DMI Inc Standard Oil and Amoco.

Fire destroys recreational buildings near Braidwood
At 7 a.m. a fire on Smiley and Essex Roads three miles from Braidwood destroyed four vacant summer recreation buildings owned by Allen Zlonie John Honsman Robert Mack and Melvin Mack.
