Elmer Carlson Morris Civic Leader Dies
Elmer W. Carlson 74 a Morris civic leader and photographer for 50 years died at home on Oak Street after years of ill health. He operated at 403 Liberty Street and was active in First Methodist church and local civic groups including the World Service Bible class and Morris Rotary. He is survived by his wife, daughter Elna Daisley, son William, five grandchildren, two sisters, and a brother, with services at 1 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery.

Dixon Hospital To Benefit From Brinton Will

Grand Jury Session Sought for Feb 15 in Reckless Homicide Case
State's Attorney August Black asked Circuit Court to reconvene Grundy County Grand Jury on February 15 to hear the reckless homicide case against Richard R. Bunt of 1409 Division Street after a Monday night crash that killed M. E. Tascher. Darrell Herman of rural Mazon provided a statement contradicting Bunt saying he slowed before entering Route 47 and saw the Bunt car at a half mile away traveling fast, striking Tascher, then Herman, and stopping several feet beyond on the gravel road.

Illinois highway bids sought for Morris area routes
The Illinois Division of Highways will receive bids on February 19 for 5.80 miles of concrete pavement on Interstate 80 from about 42 miles west to 14% miles east of the LaSalle Grundy county line. A second project on Route 80 covers four miles of concrete pavement with ramps and frontage roads from near the Will Grundy Kendall line to the U S Route 66 interchange. Landscaping for 7.68 miles of U S Route 66 near Braceville in Grundy county is also bid.
