Investigation Sheds Light On Donor Heart Transplant Case
In Chicago the first successful heart transplant prompts an inquiry into donor care after a tavern head injury. Cook County Hospital officials cite unresolved questions on the second admission and whether a male nurse or doctors advised the patient to leave without medical attention. The heart went to Ervin F. Cramer as a surgical team led by Dr. Hassan Najafi performed the operation at Presbyterian St. Luke's.

Plan to Stage Protest on Inauguration

They seek parade and rally permits to accommodate up to 10,000, with no plan for civil disobedience and no intended disruption of official ceremonies. A counter parade, ball, and rally are planned for January, with demonstrations along the parade route and on the Ellipse. Negotiations for permits are ongoing with federal and District authorities. David Dellinger leads the operation from New York, with invitations sent to peace groups nationwide and some responses already received.
