Yorkville Man Killed When Car Hits Ice
Yorkville resident Martin Halmagyi 31 an Aurora Post Office employee died when his car slid on ice in fog on Route 71 near Oswego and collided with a semi truck driven by Wayne Thorp 39 of Streator. A jury verdict of accidental death was returned in the Victor F. Pierard inquest led by Coroner W. Clark Davis. Pierard died November 3, 1957 at the Coal City dump in Felix township Grundy county from a bullet fired from a .38 caliber Iver Johnson revolver through the left ventricle of the heart. Death occurred about 1 15 p.m. as the result of an accidental shooting by a person or persons unknown. Jurors included Arthur R.
