Snow storm creates hazardous roads across northern Illinois

Snow and ice sent vehicles off interstates from Champaign to Sterling while power lines fell, cutting electricity for about 3,600 in a three county area. State police warned of icy, packed roads across northern Illinois and urged nonessential travel be avoided as outages continued in Peoria, Tazewell and McLean counties.

Plainfield man treated after Tabler Road crash

Dennis Rainer of Plainfield was treated at St Joseph Hospital Joliet and released after a one car crash on Tabler Rd north of U S 6. Dennis Chism 24 Plainfield drove off road to light a cigarette losing control hitting a utility pole. Car damage was estimated at 2000 dollars and towed from the scene.

Truck driver electrocuted at Ottawa Silica site

Gary Indiana driver Gregory Jackson, 23, died after his dump truck struck a 2300 volt line at Ottawa Silica in LaSalle County. Coroner Marion Osborne ruled it an apparent electrocution. An autopsy was performed. Jackson had dumped dirt and was reloading when the line was hit at dusk. A fellow driver returned to the scene finding him beside the truck.

Narvick Brothers Wins Morris Hospital ICU Contract

Narvick Brothers Lumber Co. Inc. of Morris won theDr John B Roth Sr Memorial Intensive Care Unit project at Morris Hospital with a 94350 bid. The board awarded the contract after bids from Jean McCoy and Sons and Ray Serena Construction. Subcontractors include Clennon Electric and Les Allott Plumbing and Heating. Completion is set for 120 days after construction starts with hoped starting within three weeks and finishing by late April.
