Grundy County Board approves eight liquor licenses

The Grundy County Board of Supervisors authorized up to eight liquor licenses five taverns and three clubs under last year’s procedure. Eligible outlets include Morris Country Club Moose Lodge Goose Lake Country Club Gladys Clays of Gladys Place Vienna Town ship William Spellisy Seven Gables Harold Rosefsky Highway Inn Joanna Wisnesky Braceville and Rose Brooks Garfield Township. The board also discussed plat approvals and tax statement address corrections.

Hoffa Calls Wildcat Strike To End Detroit Walkout

In Detroit Teamsters President James R. Hoffa returned from Chicago to quell a 24 hour wildcat strike by Local 299 members protesting a Supreme Court decision. About 750 sign waving workers gathered at a back to work meeting as 3,000 locals voted for the stoppage starting at midnight.

Grundy County Tuberculosis Appeal Reaches New Total

Christmas Seal campaign totals $6,477.70, says Miss Nancy Russell executive secretary of the Grundy County Tuberculosis and Health Association. With $1,644.65 still needed to reach the year’s goal of 8,122.35, contributions run $829 ahead of last year at this stage.

Christmas break for Morris elementary students begins at 3 45 p m next Thursday. Classes resume at 8 45 or 9 a m on Jan 3. The central office will be open during the vacation period on Dec 23 and Dec 27 30.

Burbank bulletin reports Walt Disney a major moviemaker died today at St Joseph Hospital age 65. He created entertainment legends starting with Mickey Mouse and led numerous films at his studio. Cause of death not disclosed though he recently underwent lung surgery.

Education Board Meets Privately in December Session

The Morris Elementary School Board ended its December meeting with an executive session excluding the press to discuss a personal matter. No official action was planned. The board approved fencing and gym rental, and granted $200 travel allowances to Deutsch and Baudino, with other minor staff expenses and building-safety plans noted. A safety survey for Zion-Benton Township High School was ordered, to be conducted by an architect.

Damage suit filed for 95000 in Grundy County

Edgar Keeling seeks 75000 for personal injuries and his wife Creola 20000 for loss of services after a September 6 1965 collision on Illinois 47 near the river bridge. Defendants are Wilbur Krone and Simms Motor Transport Lines both of Chicago. The suit cites driver negligence and a rear impact that overturned the Keeling car.
