Workshop for Retarded Trainees Operates at First Baptist
The Morris Lions Club heard Rev. Arthur Johns describe a sheltered workshop started last January in the First Baptist Church fellowship hall at 300 E Jackson St. It now employs 10 mentally retarded trainees, pays 25 cents an hour for four hours daily, and relies on industry jobs for funding. Johns called for more space and transport, notes the program offers crafts, recreation, and socialization, and aims to expand as local demand grows.
