A morning ceremony at a 1 000 acre Aux Sable Township site marked the start of Northern Petrochemical Co’s one billion pound per year olefin plant. About 60 attendees heard that the project will be the world’s largest petrochemical complex outside the Gulf Coast, creating hundreds of skilled jobs and a major regional development.

Lights Shine At Interchange As 700 Watt Illinois Lights Go On
At 6 05 p m Morris Mayor John Hendrickson switched on 700 watt lights at the Interstate 80 and Illinois 47 interchange. Officials said the 46 foot poles with glare controlled lamps will improve safety for motorists and reduce night driving hazards. The project cost 57126 with completion in 29 days.

Cold wave moves in with single digits this week
The forecast calls for a cold snap tonight lowering temperatures to around 15 degrees. Friday should be partly sunny with highs between 26 and 34. Wednesday’s high at the College Weather Station was 42 with a low of 28. At 9 am today Morris reported 28 degrees and at 11 am downtown it was 30 with clouds.
