Crystal Lake Man Charged With Damage

Everett F. Nelson, 34, of Crystal Lake, charged with two counts of criminal damage to property after allegedly stealing a vending machine from Kresse Highway Inn on Bedford Road. Nelson confessed to the theft, was bound over on a $1,000 recognizance bond, and the case was continued for a week.

The Morris Chamber of Commerce raises total prizes to 225 dollars for the annual Christmas home decor contest. Boy Dies in Doghouse Fire Near Pana Illinois

A four year old boy, son of Mr and Mrs Richard Smith, died today in a doghouse adjacent to their home in Pana Illinois. The blaze also damaged the residence and the mother, Mrs Smith age 27, was treated for smoke inhalation and shock after rescuing flames from the doghouse. Authorities reported the cause of the fire is not known and the Pana Fire Department extinguished the blaze.

In Brandenton Florida a Bradenton doctor performed a pier side operation removing 10 live embryo sharks from an 11 foot 600 pound mother shark found on a trap line. The mother shark died after the surgery while the 10 offspring were reported well and jumping.

Fair and warm December weather forecast for Grundy County

The U S Weather Bureau predicts pleasant December weather in Grundy County through Thursday with a low in the mid 30s tonight and a high near 50 on Wednesday. Collins Weather Station reported a 43 degree high and an 18 degree low overnight with 28 degrees at 9 am and 36 degrees by 11 am in the business district.
