Braceville trio in Grundy County Court marijuana case

Braceville man Bruce Brorsen pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana reduced from a felony charge and was placed on one year probation with a $300 fine. Debra Stanley faced a not guilty plea after a preliminary hearing found probable cause. Alan Decker waived his preliminary hearing with arraignment set for December 18.

MVK students donate 545 for mental health book-a-thon

MVK Junior high students raised 545 by a book-a-thon and sent a check to the Mental Health Association in Springfield. Nineteen readers collected sponsors after Oct 16, reporting each book to librarian Mrs. Pauline Brown. Top donors included Michelle Kruger 82.45 and Michelle Murray 70.80. all participants received a Walter Payton autographed picture.
