Five killed in New Haven apartment slaying spree
In New Haven Connecticut a gunman killed five people and wounded two in Mary Mae Clease's six room apartment as he sought his former girlfriend Gloria Baskerville. Arthur Davis, 37, of New Haven, was later arrested in Newark New Jersey in connection with the killings. Authorities said the shooter wore a cowboy hat and calmly left the scene. The victims included Mrs Clease's daughter Francyne 14 who was hospitalized after a stomach wound and Troy Sykes 4 who was wounded in the chin.

Truckdriver Injured in Illinois 47 Collision Near Plattville
Herbert Lloyd, 45, of Route 3 sustained multiple contusions a forehead laceration and a left shoulder injury when his 1966 Ford rental collided with a northbound 1966 Mercedes driven by Thomas Fletcher Jr. 21 at Illinois 47 and Plattville Road. Fletcher was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way. Lloyd was treated at Morris hospital and released. Fletcher’s car suffered left front fender damage.

Lockjaw Fatal To Channahon Man Thursday
Lawrence Marvin Todd 26 of Channahon died at Cook County Hospital Chicago of lockjaw after a baseball injury August 13 at Channahon Ball Diamond. He had been ill a week and funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday in Channahon Methodist Church with burial in Willard Grove Cemetery. He was born February 11 1940 in Morris and is survived by his wife Jacqueline and daughter Valerie Lynn.
