Bloodmobile misses goal by 35 pints at Eagle Hall
The Red Cross Bloodmobile collected 115 pints of blood from 135 volunteers at Eagle Hall, short of the 150 pint goal. Forty volunteers were rejected for medical reasons, with 170 pints hoped during vacation season. The next visit is set for October 11.

Barn fire at Norman Township destroys Schaeffer barn
An Arabian calf and other show calves were saved from a blaze that gutted the Schaeffer barn near Dupont Road in Norman Township. Fire investigators suspected electrical wires caused the fire. Morris firemen cooled nearby sheds to prevent spread.

Plano Woman Dies After Kendall County Head-On Crash
Mrs. Raymond Warren of Plano died at Morris Hospital after a Friday head-on collision on Illinois 47 and Whitewillow Road. Mrs. Millie Clark of Waukegan remained in extremely critical condition, while Mr. Raymond Clark, 79, was slightly improved. Grundy County Coroner W Clark Davis said cause of Mrs. Clark s injuries is not yet known.

Link legs to murder in Kenosha and Lake County
Lake County coroner officials linked the discovery of two human legs in Kenosha to a dismembered body found in Lake County. The victim, a white male aged 20 to 30, was killed by a blow to the head. his identity remained unknown. The body parts were found near Waukondy on July 11.
