Grundy County Housing Authority unanimously backed replacing basements with concrete slabs and small crawl spaces for 50 low income units. The decision followed soil tests showing a water seepage problem. National Homes cited dry basements could not be guaranteed. An artist’s storage building and redesigned layout to spare four trees were approved along with a 1 088 554 budget.

Miss Joan Mary Young, 17, of Rte. 1 Morris, listed in fair condition at Morris Hospital after a one car crash on Pine Bluff Road near Jugtown Road when an unidentified auto veered toward her eastbound 1962 Oldsmobile. Deputy Donald Woodward investigated. A ticket for failing to yield at an intersection was issued to Levester Lindsey after a two car crash at Pine Bluff and Will County Roads.

Robbery Victim Critical After Joliet Station Attack
A 17 year old Braidwood service station attendant was beaten during a Friday robbery and placed in the intensive care unit at St. Joseph Hospital Joliet with a fractured skull. The victim remained in critical condition this morning.

Firefighters responded to scenes including a garage at 721 E Benton St with $600 total loss, a home at 112 Crab Apple Lane with $50 damage, and a residence on James Richardson’s property. Street flooding occurred near Fox’s Standard station. A burglary at Reed Road and Interstate 55 yielded $134 missing, with police chief unreachable.
