Morris High School and the agriculture department earned 52 ribbons, 25 in top two placings, with 14 first place ribbons. Judges praised the livestock care and preparation as A. V. Man Killed and Wife Injured in Yorkville Collision
Merle Funkhouser age 53 of West Salem died when his light truck carrying 22 steers collided with Russell Ruddy’s cattle semi near Route 47. Hazeb Stene Funkhouser, his wife, was injured and sleeping in the cab as both vehicles caught fire. Ruddy escaped unharmed as the Funkhouser truck struck a utility pole. Sheriff William Maier investigated the crash.
