Charles Murphy of Moberly Missouri sustained leg and arm injuries in a fiery 5:30 a.m. collision on US 66 when his 1967 Murphy semi and a 1965 International semi driven by Peter Adamovitz of Chicago interlocked after a tire blowout. Engine failure caused a collision on U S 66 near Dwight Illinois killing Delores Green 40 of Edgerton Wisconsin. Larry Plummer 24 of St Louis pulled onto the highway from a gas station and his car trailer stopped suddenly. Green and her husband Clinton 35 were hurt minorly. Six Die In Turnpike Head On Collision Near Beaver Falls
On the Pennsylvania Turnpike near the Beaver Valley interchange, a wrong lane head on crash killed six people including four from the Chicago area. Victims were James and Mary McKeague of Oak Lawn, Thomas and Joan Powers of Chicago, Robert Burris and Michael Korody of Struthers Ohio. Crews freed victims for over 90 minutes. Dale Wilson aged 45, a Fairfield farmer, died when his tractor was struck from behind by a semitrailer on US 45 south of Fairfield. The tractor overturned on him after losing control and skidding down an embankment. Wayne County Coroner Thom as R.
