Twelve women completed a 48 hour eight week course to become home health aide homemakers in Grundy County. Sponsored by the Grundy County Health Department the program was taught by nurses Mrs. John McNulty and Mrs. Maurice Alford. A second class is planned.

Special Grundy County clerk primary set for Sept 14
A special primary election to fill the Grundy County clerk seat for a two year term will be held Sept 14 with the general election on Nov 2. State officials expect the primary date to follow the statute seven weeks before the general election and a public notice is due by May 21. The Grundy County Democratic Central Committee nominated an interim clerk Thursday night after interviewing candidates, to serve until the general election.

Morris man cited after two car crash at Dresden and Pine Bluff

Order Braceville barred from McGurk property in TRO
A Grundy County Circuit Court temporary restraining order requires the Village of Braceville to stay off land owned by William and Mrs. Ellen McGurk. The suit alleges the village entered the property April 23 to dig a drainage ditch without permission and without purchasing, licensing, or condemning the land. Evacuation After Pentane Gas Leak Near Timco Plant
Several hundred residents of South Streator area were evacuated for about four hours after a pentane gas leak from a parked rail tank car behind Timco Manufacturing Co. The area a half mile by one mile was cleared starting around 6 30 p m and residents returned home by 10 30 p m as the leak stopped.
