A car fleeing Mendota police on U S 51 sideswiped a car driven by James Rindahl of Cambridge Wisconsin, rolled over, and was struck by a third vehicle, killing five occupants of the pursued car and injuring two others.

Otto Kerner former Illinois governor has been in hospital at Illinois Masonic for about a week in fair condition. He earlier said he faced lung cancer treatments with possible death if unsuccessful. Convicted of bribery in 1973 he served 220 days after parole granted in 1975 and was hospitalized after a lesion was removed. no surgery during current stay.

Woodstock Woman Injured in Illinois 47 Three Car Crash
A Woodstock woman, Harriet Saleski, 45, was slightly injured Sunday at 6 p.m. in a three car crash at Illinois 47 and White Willow Rd. She was treated and released from Morris Hospital. Police ticketed her for driving too fast for conditions. Her Lincoln and James Speaker's Chevrolet were towed. Finland’s car was driven away.

Explosion at Cedar Garden apartments injures six in Palatine
A gas or steam explosion at the Cedar Garden apartments on Palatine Road in Palatine lifted a baby from his crib onto the roof and injured six people, one seriously. The 1 year old Javier Herrera landed on a crib mattress. his father Fabcon Herrera and mother Yolanda Herrera were hospitalized with lacerations.

Minooka High School Board reelected Lee Thompson as president and Harvey Lewis as secretary at the organizational meeting.
