Trooper Subdues Hysterical Man At Morris Store Rampage
State Police Trooper Jack O Hagan risked his life to subdue Lorenzo Matthews a 41 year old from South Chicago who rampaged at Morris Automotive Supply injuring himself and threatening officers and spectators. Matthews died later at Morris Hospital from deep cuts. Authorities describe a tense scene with windows shattered parts hurled at rescuers and Matthews blaming threats from Chicago crime groups before the confrontation. He had been released on bail days earlier and was facing a separate weapons charge. The case prompted praise for O Hagan and Morris officers who rendered aid and secured the scene.
