Gardner South Wilmington High School District residents vote Saturday to fill three seats due to April elections. Braceville area voters cast ballots at Braceville Elementary, Gardner area at the high school, and South Wilmington residents at the village hall. Veterans tax exemption request to committee

Minooka board approves final plat for commercial development

The Minooka Village Board approved the final plat for the Minooka Commercial Development resubdivision on the south side of W Mondamon Street owned by Dom Principali. Tornado alert test Thursday in Channahon

Channahon residents will hear a tornado alert test using the fire department siren with two stations. If weather cancels, the test moves to Friday at 7 p.m. The test includes a one minute blast from station 1 and a three minute blast from station 2. The normal fire signal will follow the alert.

NRC cites need for nuclear plant safety corrections

The NRC warns urgent safety fixes are needed at nearly all U S light water reactors after the Three Mile Island accident. A Westinghouse design flaw could mislead operators and disable automatic emergency cooling, risking core overheating or meltdown. Clarify investigator test scores for Morris officers

All city and county offices will be closed all day Good Friday. The Morris Post Office will operate with normal mail delivery. Morris public schools will close at 2 p.m. Thursday and stay shut until April 23.
