Gas Station Theft Suspects Questioned
State police continued questioning at 11:15 a.m. today three suspects in a theft of 475 dollars from the Cheker gasoline service station on Interstate 55 and Illinois 113. Station manager Michael Beede said three men pried open a locked cash drawer while their car was being filled. He did not discover the theft until later.

Woman Flanks Driver Test Crashes Through Highway Office Window
A Wilmington woman taking her driver’s test crashed her car into the Grundy County Highway Department office at 9 40 a m. The car mounted the curb, smashed the window and dented the interior. Driver’s examiner and the supervisor were treated for minor injuries. Mrs Jones flunked the test and no tickets were issued.

Sniper Wounds Woman on Moving Train Near Lake Bluff
A bullet grazed a woman aboard a Chicago and North Western commuter train traveling south between the Great Lakes Naval Training Center and Lake Bluff at about 8 20 a m. The projectile shattered a window near a golf course as the Kenosha origin train neared Chicago. The passenger was treated at Lake Forest Hospital for a scalp wound and listed in good condition. no identification was yet available.

Burglary, Theft and Vandalism Probed in Grundy County
Deputies investigated a burglary at the DeMert and Daughtery plant in Coal City where a gate chain was cut and a ladder found leading to a roof. Inside the plant nothing was disturbed. A separate trailer break in stole a radio and groceries worth 42 dollars. A stolen 14 foot boat from Dresden Road was found missing after last seen in November. Easter break set for Grundy County schools with April 20 return.
