Fire damages Minooka apartment building. one man overcome
A Minooka man, Mark Moore, 20, was overcome by smoke as a fire broke out at 2:15 a.m. at 201 Mondamon St. in a two story four-unit building. Eight residents were inside. Moore aided others before collapsing and was treated at St Joseph Hospital Joliet. The fire started in a bottom floor east apartment due to a wire short in an electric heater.

Four men jailed for Godley lounge arson firebombing
In Chicago federal court on Tuesday three Joliet men and one Braceville man received prison terms for the April 15 firebombing of Sasso's Lounge in Godley. Sentences ranged from three to ten years with probation for some defendants. Robert Kirkpatrick pleaded guilty and drew a three year term plus five years probation. NIU suspends student after pellet gun shooting
A Northern Illinois University student was suspended in the wounding of a black student on campus. Douglas Riccardo Johnson, 20, Chicago, was hit in the head by a pellet fired from a pellet gun through a car window as Kappa Alpha Psi pledges ran a foot race.
