Grundy County elects 14 Republicans and 4 Democrats to board
Grundy County voters elected four Democrats to the county board while ten incumbents, all Republicans, were re elected. Incumbent Republicans Ness Borue and McLuckie were defeated along with the sole Democratic incumbent Harty. New Republicans include Trotter Waters Brooks Wollgast and Wollgast leads in District No 3 with 1 458 votes. Democratic incumbents Barr Connor Baudino Noonan win Districts 1 and 3. Overall turnout was about 45 percent with 6 748 ballots cast of 14 812 eligible voters.

Republican Clifford Carlson, 56, of Geneva Industrialist, defeated Democrat Tim Hall, 46, Dwight, 30 742 votes to 25 780 in the unexpired term race to succeed U S Reid who resigned for FCC post. William Charles Jones 18 of Rte 5 was ticketed for illegal liquor possession after a Saturday crash at Dwight and Gardner Roads killed passenger Paul Kneller 16 of 729 Second Ave. Richard Burger 19 of Rv. 1 Dwight was hospitalized after his car struck Jones vehicle at a stop sign. Safe recovered nine hours after Coal City burglary
Elmhurst police recovered a 700 pound safe stolen from Ramme Buick Open and GMC at 155 E Division St. It was found unopened at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday in an American Legion Club parking lot in Elmhurst. The safe contained $50 in cash and company books and papers.
