A Morris man in fair condition at Morris Hospital sustained rib injuries in a two vehicle crash at Illinois 47 and Bedford Road at 3 15 p m Wednesday Blanchard Peterson 73 of 607 Douglas St was turning from northbound Illinois 47 when his Pontiac was hit by a second vehicle driven by George Gulish 30 of Medford Wis Gulish was cited for improper passing at an intersection and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident He posted 25 bond for a court appearance April 14 Gulish said he did not see a turn signal on Petersons car but saw brake lights on a third vehicle and swerved left Witnesses said Gulish was traveling at a high rate of speed The 1962 Chevrolet suffered damage to the right front fender and bumper Petersons car struck a fire hydrant and sustained extensive left side damage A second incident involved Clarence E Petty 30 of 106 Waverly St whose 1971 Toyota station wagon was struck while parked at the Saratoga Cafe between 11 p m Tuesday and 8 a m Wednesday The left front fender buckled and bumper was damaged

Fire destroys barn near Lisbon in Kendall County
A 30 by 100 foot barn 1.5 miles west of Lisbon on Saratoga Road burned this morning. James Iverson tenant on Arthur States farm Joliet said the barn was a total loss with a horse, grain elevator, hay and straw destroyed as winds threatened nearby structures. Lisbon Newark Plattville and Morris fire crews arrived but could not save the building. A tool shed briefly caught fire but was extinguished and no injuries are reported.
