An advertisement appeals to nobility and gentry for TIRACIA oils said to regrow hair within 24 hours and stop hair loss after illness. It promises thick, soft hair on head and eyebrows, notes long use as a pomade, and claims superiority to Bear’s Greate, with endorsements from high-ranking ladies and gentlemen. The product is recommended after sea-bathing.
Notice of Mr Dibdin’s Castles in the Air at Sans Souci Strand with doors at seven, show at eight. Advertises Hantock instrument and various books and songs. Also notices a quarterly general court of the East India Merchants’ Company at Leadenhall Street tomorrow.
Royal Patent Medicine Warehouse announces from Opposite New Bond Street with agent W Bacon at No 150 Oxford Street. Lists Dr Norris’s Drops James’s Powders Analeptic Pills Huxham’s Bark Dr Scot’s Pills Lady Hill’s Batdana and many others. Promises lowest terms and free stamp duty on six articles.
An ornate advertisement listing engravings of the late Queen, books by Mrs. Mary Robinson, and plateware offered by Simpson and Becket. Also promoting new Muscadine Raisins and imported goods, with exchange on old gold and negotiable bills. Nobility urged to apply at Presley’s Warehouse in Covent Garden.
An 18th century advertisement touts Samaritans Restorative priced at 1s 6d per bottle. It claims long physician fame, broad healing claims for youth and old age, and promises renewed strength, vigor, and health across genders, with charitable offers and certificates by Mr Bacon.
A letter from Tusspay, President of the Revolutionary Tribunal at Lyons, notes daily executions of conspirators as tribunals press the purge. Reports from Casel and the Army of the North describe harsh raids, amputations, and anti clerical measures, with Propaganda marching to enforce state control and sequestration of property.
A Paris resident complained to the National Convention that 1050 livres were exacted by the District Committee to fund the war in La Vendee, arguing committees cannot levy arbitrary contributions. Danton proposed annulment of all such taxes by Representatives, Administrative Bodies, and Committees, which was adopted.
