Lyon County shows the revenue act works as intended with uniform valuations by the State Board of Assessors. after a board meeting the Lyon assessor applied the board’s valuations to all property, including railroads. the rate dropped from 2.65 to 1.80 per 100 valuation and taxes rose equitably for all classes, lowering railroad taxes. other counties would save if they followed suit and the legislature ensures mandatory uniform enforcement.
