Two inmates Musgrove and Thompson escaped the Nevada State Penitentiary by removing floor stones into a kitchen area and climbing a skylight. They fled to a German man Hynsooth, hitched a horse and cart, and were later tied to a rail car in Reno. Thompson had six months left. Musgrove had three years for burglary in Virginia City.
