Barl Swift hosted Dick Brown Tuesday evening. Mrs James Calhoun attended a WSCS workshop in Promise City. Jeffrey Hersberger stayed with Thelma Calhoun while his mother was at Monroe County hospital. Mr and Mrs Low Zimmerman visited Kathryn Tawghlin in Albia who celebrated her ninety seventh birthday. Lloyd Ammons family spent Sunday at Wm Caler home in Des Moines.
Moravia Town Council met in regular session with all members present. The financial report totals include General Government 1942.04, Street 1227.82, Pub Safety 357.47, Water 7696.31, Municipal Enterprise 3279.45, Recreation 188.04, Utilities 2024.07, Debt Service 4628.57, Road Use Tax and liquor profit 887.46, grand total 25213.35. bills were approved. Authorities discussed postmaster postage, payroll items, various local contractors, water and street improvements, a cigarette license list, a pool hall license, budget hearing on July 23, well repairs, highway barrier permit, and related financials.
The council met in a special session to repair wiring and plumbing in the community building restrooms. The meeting adjourned after approving Motton by Black and John Spencer supporting the budget. Clerk W. H. Burton noted the adjournment.
