Frank Miller of Centerville visited with his mother Amanda Miller. Ensign Joe N Wilson spent a two day leave with his parents and will train in Miami after Corpus Christi.
Miss Grace Newbro, a high school teacher, has been in the past week unable to be at school. Mrs. Paul Veitch hosted the Utopian club with ten members present. Mrs. P. A. Bair led a lesson on Christ and the Fine Arts. Guests included Mrs. Julian Stufflebeam of Ottumwa and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kirk of Los Angeles. Corp. and Mrs. Roscoe Brown and baby of Harlington, Texas, visited the William Brown home and traveled to Moravia to see Mrs. Brown's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Veitch and others were in Ottumwa on business Friday afternoon.
A Sunday afternoon gathering with the Scott girls includes Bernice Johnson, Helen Felton, and Betty Wilson. Neighbors Mrs. Charles Locke of Woodward ITowa, and Larry and Patty Bishop, visited Gabe Johnson’s home Saturday morning, with other locals calling in over the weekend.
Mrs J T VanDorm reports sorghum making progress despite sickness. Nine pigs noted. Exline buyers acquired Mearl Walter and J T's sorghum mills. Local social life centers on Carolyn's birthday party hosted by Mrs Claude Hawk, with many friends visiting relatives across Albia Ottumwa and nearby farms.
