Rathbun Dam Debate Quietly Divides Centerville
Centerville held discussions Wednesday morning on the Rathbun dam issue. A furloughed service member asked why the dam is needed and about the opposition, receiving a clarifying answer that left him confused. The stance of the Union remains neutral, promising to publish constructive information on the matter. The Iowa State Fair grand champion steer sold for a high price at auction, with Storz Brewing of Omaha involved in the bidding, driving the price to 2.20 per pound.

From Producer To Retail A Farmer’s Call For Action
John Lindsrog provides a farmer’s perspective on milk prices and cost of living. He cites 15 cents for a half pint of milk in Iowa, contrasts with higher costs in Alaska, and urges organized action to pressure policy makers. He laments political neglect and calls for a farmer-led group to push for fair pricing.
