Community news from Iconium records visits by Coulsons Beaty Beaty families and others with numerous calls and dinners. The Scouts plan a church program with no admission fee but an offering. Attendees also mention Fall Festival travel, a Christian church picnic, and local bus iness in Centerville Albia.
Sunday morning rain brought gatherings as wedding bells rang in the area. Louie Priebe received medical attention Sunday evening. Local families and friends visited, with Merle Dicks busy making sorghum and a Farm Bureau meeting with a teachers reception planned for Thursday night September 29. Each family to bring 9 pies.
West Point residents and families visited relatives and hosted guests through the week. Moravia Fall Festivals drew much of the local attendance while several families traded visits between Albia and Moravia and shared weekend gatherings with Kelsey, Brown, Main, and Mahin households.
Omega Mito Selby and family visited Sunday at Howard Winkleman’s. Elmer Henderson Clifford and Cleo Stocker and Jim McCumber were also callers. Mrs Burl Stanley and daughter Virginia of Nampa Idaho spent Sunday night with Ruth Harris at Centerville. Ezra Coltrain Lucille and Kenneth spent Sunday with Ella Lackman. Ralph Hicks of Chicago visited G B McCumber’s family last week. Cleo Tock and Betty Lou Stocker of Centerville stay at G B McCumber’s. Nell Pelkington of Alba visiting sister Alva. John Lockman and several couples called at Gomer Stocker’s Monday.
Moravia enjoyed a well behaved crowd at the Morning Fall Festival on Sept 15 16 and 17 with wholesome outdoor sports and good sportsmanship. Attendees included Rev J W Zerba elders and local families as exhibitors showcased vegetables fruits quilts and crafts while many residents took part in local events and visits.
Franklin and Butler Raney visited in Des Moines while John Moffatt and daughter Mary hosted callers at the James Burchbey home in Albin. W E Repp and Francia Lamar spent time at the parental and Moffatt homes. Runnells, Rhinehart and others visited W H Stephens and John Moffatt homes. Many attended Moravia Fall Festival. friends Jerome Calhoun and Mary Moffatt joined get-togethers with area families.
Dale Smith and Howard Robinson called in Ottumwa from the area. Lloyd Stafford returned home from Ottumwa hospital Saturday. Fall Festival attendees traveled from here to Moravia. Neighbors aided Maurine Lillard with a site task last week. Mrs. Ona Boardman visited Geneva Seiman in Ottumwa. Bert Wisher and wife shopped in Blakesburg Wednesday. Mark Capps spent part of last week in Ottumwa. Charles Boardman of San Francisco arrived to visit his brother W F Boardman. Loren Thompson visited Dale Smith. Lloyd Fletcher spent the weekend at Edward Robinson’s. Mr and Mrs Earle Smith and Weldon family were Sunday guests at Maurice Lillard’s. Mr and Mrs M E Boardman and family with Mia and Anna Makads on, plus Bert and Charles Boardman of San Francisco were dinner guests at W F Boardman’s.
Mr and Mrs Ben Jones visited Cen terville Thursday afternoon. Mrs Linyd Brown stayed at Birdie Main s in Moravia with Mrs Wade Lockman s relatives. Edmond Brown bragged about roads last week. Residents attended Moravia festival. Lee Hiatt attended Gus Luse sale. Mary Platt spent a day with Mrs Lee Hiatt. Jeff Patrick and Max Hammond visited at Marve Lockman s. Lon Clark called in the locality. Mary Marie Williams was absent from school Monday. Ot tumwa visitors Mr and Mrs J F Wolf had Friday dinner at the Cogs Hamilton home. Ed Delongs visited Moravia on Saturday. Alisa Mangle and family spent Sunday at Jeff Patrick s. Clyde Plu rummers of Promise City stayed with Ben Williams. Dick Wilson threshing is underway this week.

Jim and Wayne Morrison of Unionville spent the weekend with their brother Dick Morrison. The Wilbur Millers called on sister Mrs. Mary Coffin at St. Joseph hospital in Centerville, meeting the new nephew. A local festival was enjoyed in Morsyis that week as Rosa Knight battled the flu. Elijah Albertson and daughter LaVera visited Rosa Knight. Rosa Blumer returned to Ottumwa. Iva Strunk and son Bobby visited the W. C. Miller home. Alma Keemer and Eva Brensen of Toledo, Iowa, spent Sunday with grandparents Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Horner.
