Notable births and odd weights spark small town chatter
The column surveys rough facts from era headlines: the Dionne quintuplets born weighing 12 pounds 12 ounces, a Glovier baby at 14 pounds one ounce, plus quirked anecdotes from Moorfield and Oklahoma City. It notes a school event in Moravia, a PTA intro by Kenneth Barghahn, and a lightning fatality in Iowa. It lampoons publishing codes and local manners with irony.

Fall Festival Observations Highlight Oldest Attendee and Community Spirit
The Moravia Fall Festival drew Ben jamin W. Cook, aged 100, who appeared hale and happy amid crowds that felt little hit from the Depression. Notes on speeches, judging inside and outside, absence of giants in the crops, and the mounted Moravia Band pepper the report, with memories of the 1906 New Hope trip and hints of November 6 political decisions.
