Parade Bands Win Crowns and Concession Funds Rise
Saturday's parade featured bands and cult show winners, with Pony Pleasure Michelle Brown first, Mike Brown second, Mark Brown third, David Hatfield and Jim Hatfield accruing lower placements, and Mark Hall sixth. Yearling cults saw Karen McNeley and Rea Argo placing high, while Jim Hatfield claimed third. The Band Mothers club hosted a concession to raise money for new band uniforms as youngsters enjoyed throwing wet sponges at their junior high teacher Richard Pauley for three throws per dime.

A Thursday evening lamb barbecue proved a success for the 71 Fall Festival. Festival Committeeman Jim Herron watched Mr. Roberts of Keosauqua cut lamb for serving as Don Bolin, Dewey Jantz, and Sheep Empire Days workers helped. About 1,200 sandwiches, 1,000 potato chip packs, 15 gallons cole slaw and 29 gallons baked beans were served with school floats and FFA involvement noted.
