Combine Beans Before They Become Too Dry
Iowa State agronomist C. R. Weber urges harvesting soybeans as soon as they are dry enough to store to avoid losses from over drying. Best method is direct harvesting from standing stalks with beans at about 19.5 percent moisture or lower, testing moisture in the field by pod dryness and bite test. Usually beans are best after the first good frost, which ends green conditions.
