The Moravia park carnival for this year’s fall festival is expected to draw good crowds if the weather cooperates. Organizers tout the carnival as one of the best in years with three nights of entertainment and no conflicting dates in the area. Come everyone and enjoy the festivities.
Moravia completed assembling and painting the ferris wheel and other rides for a weekend event, planning to clear the site by Sunday church time but facing tight labor this year. Bud Walter hunted on opening day and killed a large gray wolf after multiple shots, claiming it may be the biggest opening day reward.
A week of visits and calls shows Mrs. Howard Buikl hosting Udell and Minnie Moffatt receiving guests including Kathy Moffatt and several others. Mr. and Mrs. Edd Tubbs of California visited Alva Fowler and relatives. Dinner guests at Howard Burkland’s included Frankie and Walter Dixon. Acknowledgments extend sympathy to the Glasgow families.
Mrs Mary Clayworth and family mourn a recent death. The obituary notes her passing and mentions her spouse and family in a concise notice.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Long and family spent Sunday evening at Emil Longs in Centerville. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stajcar spent the weekend in West Des Moines. Mr. and Mrs. Frank O'Conner spent Monday at the Milo Walker home. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Phillips of Selina Kansas and Mr. and Mrs. Noah Robbins of Lavonia Missouri were Monday dinner guests at the Paul Cridlebaugh home. Afternoon callers were Kathryn Ray, Margaret Jackson and Dorothy Raskie.

Premium checks for livestock exhibitors in the 4 H division are ready and should be picked up at the Extension Office in Centerville as soon as possible.
Mrs Burdett Cox hosts and visits with neighbors Friday through Sunday as the Coxes, Lockmans, Sheppards and Logans share calls, trips to Ottumwa for a Centennial parade, and hospital updates. Eye surgery for Ralph Roberts noted. Jimmie Logan aids in Centerville schools while Carol Powers vacations.
