Obituary for J. Lauren Haines of Red Oak dies at 64
Funeral services were held in Perryman chapel for J. Lauren Haines a Burlington Zephyr retiree of 46 years born December 14 1877 in Osceola who died Friday at his Red Oak home. He served as fireman then engineer and moved from Creston to Red Oak in 1919. He is survived by his wife Nellie Argo two sons foster son and two grandchildren plus a sister. He was a Spanish American War militia member who failed the army physical.

Moravia will host its 87th Fall Festival September 10 to 12 with a new premium division offering three prizes for farm exhibits. Entries for livestock and other events are due by evening and the Moravia high school band will perform, while a pet parade and Dixie Trail musical program are planned. A notable speaker is sought for Saturday, with concerts at 1:90 p.m. and 8 p.m. and additional shows at 2 and 8 p.m.
